GDP growth in Ukraine will speed up in the second half year, vice PM Serhiy Arbuzov believes. "In the second half year we expect improvement of dynamics of economic processes, though it will be hardly possible to cover the influence of low demand in full. However, we observe positive GDP growth this year," the official said in a comment.

Speaking about outlooks for 2014, the vice PM notes that the government keeps working on macroeconomic forecasts, taking into account the current situation and influence of the signing of the Association agreement with the EU.

"Consultations with the IMF are ongoing, but it is too early to speak about final results," he says.
Regarding the European integration process, Arbuzov noted that rapprochement with the EU, including signing of the Association agreement, planned for this November, will enable to expand market outlets and increase production of Ukrainian goods and services.

"We need new markets. Moreover, I believe we will shift from resource-based economy to food economy, meaning we will have additional added value, which is very important," the vice PM said.
