Interior minister of Ukraine Vitaly Zakharchenko informed that about one thousand employees have been dismissed for negative reasons during 2013.
"This year, about one thousand persons have been dismissed, 277 former employees of the Interior Ministry have been convicted, 12 of them held senior posts," the minister said.
Zakharchenko noted that his agency is in acute need of personnel updating, and noted the need to establish a reserve of senior officials.
He called on all law enforcement officers to actively improve their skills.
The minister also said that those employees, who discredited the title of the law enforcement officer, will be resolutely dismissed from the ministry.
In addition, Zaharchenko instructed his deputy Viktor Dubovik to more transparently and efficiently organize the fight against corruption within the agency.
