Annual trade turnover between Moscow and Kyiv is $ 5 billion, Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on Thursday at the meeting with chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov in Moscow.

"Moscow and Kyiv have strong historical, economic and cultural ties. Trade turnover between Moscow and Kyiv is nearly $ 5 billion. This amount speaks for itself about the many economic ties binding us," he said.

According to Sobyanin, all points of the program of cooperation between Moscow and Kyiv for 2011-2013 in various branches "are almost fully implemented".

During negotiations, Popov and Sobyanin signed the memorandum on preparation of the cooperation program for 2014-2015.

"I hope that the next stage of our cooperation will be just as fruitful and will bear positive results for the residents of Moscow and Kyiv," Moscow's mayor said.

In turn, Popov affirmed that the agreement, signed between the two cities three years ago, has been successfully implemented. According to him, more interesting projects are ahead.
