"The delay in the transition to European technical standards threatens with negative consequences for domestic producers," Viktor Yanukovych noted, the President’s press service reports.
Speaking at the plenary session of the Sixth international investment summit "Sustainable development: energy efficiency, resource preservation, environmental security" in Donetsk, the President stressed that Ukraine was on the verge of the strategic decision – signature of the Association Agreement with the EU.
According to the Head of State, modernization plan is a kind of homework for Ukraine.
"We do this for ourselves. Nobody makes us do this. We know that unless we switch to the European standards, our producers will be discredited in the European and the world markets, thus, we will not be competitive. Our industrial exporters involved in a tough competition in the foreign markets are aware of that," the President emphasized.
