President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych emphasized the importance of elaborating the program of road construction for 2014, he said at the meeting of the Council of Regions in Boryspil, the press service of the head of state reports.
"We must have a separate program of local roads construction for the next year," the Head of State noted.
The President asked infrastructure minister Volodymyr Kozak about the progress in the given issue.
Viktor Yanukovych reminded that due to the increase of tariffs for the railway transportation, the volume of road freight transportation had increased leading to an extreme deterioration of roads.
"We understand that it is impossible to manage the road issue without qualitative road construction and repair," the President said.
