Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that Russia insists on performance of the current gas contract with Ukraine. He said this at a press conference following the 10th meeting of the Committee on Economic Cooperation of the Ukrainian-Russian interstate commission.
"Of course, we discussed the gas issue. On the one hand, there is a topic, which can be discussed/ On the other hand, there are specific legal realities," Medvedev said.
He stressed that gas supply agreements with Ukraine are long-term and should be performed.
"The question of fairness of the prices, question of conditions for future cooperation- is a set of questions that can be put. However, before we reach an agreement on the future parameters of this cooperation, the present documents must be performed," the Russian PM said.
According to him, the international law provides for fulfilling of the undertaken obligations.
