The second President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma considers Russia a competitor of Ukraine in the global market. He stated this in an interview with the "UNIAN" Ukrainian news agency.

Answering the question of whether Ukraine and Russia are partners or rivals on the world arena, Kuchma said: "I'd like to say that we are partners. I sincerely want it would be so. However, unfortunately, this is not the case. Trade wars, political pressure do not allow dissembling. Here we must note the "special role" of orange power of Ukraine and the consequences of its policies".

According to him, competition is a more common event in the global market economy rather than cooperation. "The current relations between Ukraine and Russia are smooth enough. One should recall competition in global markets of aircraft, ships, energy resources, aviation services, metals, etc. The market, as we say, acts according to the rule: "Hedge between keeps friendship green," Kuchma summed
