Ukraine has done everything possible to sign the Association Agreement with the European Union and the FTA agreement, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov told a roundtable on European Integration, ForUm correspondent reports.
"The president and the government, in my opinion, have done everything possible to unite Ukrainian society around European integration. It is our consistent and principled stand," the PM said.
Azarov reminded that electoral program of President Viktor Yanukovych included Ukraine’s integration into the political, economic, legal and humanitarian space of the EU. "We have made task of European integration the norm of law," he said and added that this was a step to the irrevocable path of independent Ukraine, and its reforming in line with European standards is in the national interests of the country.
"Today we have reached the finish line. The next month, Ukraine and the EU are to sign the Association Agreement at the summit of "Eastern Partnership" in Vilnius. It is a joint achievement," Azarov summed up.
