The World Bank intends to allocate about $300 million to improve the quality of Ukrainian medicine, coordinator of the World Bank human development sector for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova, Paolo Carlo Belli said during a news conference, ForUm correspondent reports.

According to him, the project is designed for 5 years, the implementation will begin in September 2014.

"We are currently working on the preparation of the health sector project. The final amount of funding is still to be confirmed, but we can say that this will be a big project. Its approximate cost will be about $ 300 million, the duration - about 5 years," Belli said.

He stressed that the process of providing quality medicine is implemented not due to some particular project or a particular institution. The Association of Physicians, the Health Ministry and other institutions are accountable for the project. The World Bank, as the international organization, can only provide financial support for such activities.

"Improving quality is a never-ending process, as medicine evolves, new technologies appear, and it is important to create a system that will continuously provide and maintain quality," the World Bank representative concluded.
