Yefremov suspects opposition of attempts to disrupt European integration
Chairman of the Party of Regions faction Oleksandr Yefremov is surprised that the opposition did not vote for the amendments to the Constitution on strengthening of guarantees of the judges’ independence and suspects oppositionists of trying to disrupt European integration.

"This is all done on the eve of the summit. What is it? Is it a stand of opposition on our strivings for European integration? How should we understand these actions, which are shown directly in the session hall?" he told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

Yefremov is glad that the majority had enough votes to pass the draft resolution. "Thank God, we had enough reason and votes in the session hall not to stop the advance of the document," the MP said.

According to him, the bill could be amended. "Amendments may be made at any stage, another thing is they will delay considering this issue," he said and reminded that the document has been agreed upon with the European institutions, in particular, with the Venice Commission.

Yefremov noted that in case some changes are introduced, the bill will have to be re-submitted to the Constitutional Court. "Then we delay the procedure for at least another year," Yefremov summed up.
