Ukraine and the Republic of Ireland are interested in strengthening of inter-parliamentary cooperation, the press service of the Verkhovna Rada reports.

"Active cooperation between the legislative bodies of Ukraine and Ireland at the level of leadership of parliaments and of committees and friendship groups is an important factor of the further successful development of the Ukrainian-Irish relations in all spheres," the press service quoted chairman of the Parliament Volodymyr Rybak during a meeting with chairman of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Ireland Sean Barrett.

Barrett, in turn, also expressed interest in strengthening of inter-parliamentary cooperation. "Parliamentary democracy works if there is a dialogue and there are structures such as friendship groups between parliamentarians," the press service quoted the Irish speaker.

Rybak also thanked Ireland for its constructive approach while considering the important issues for Ukraine in the framework of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
