
Prices for potatoes and vegetables in Ukraine will be stable, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said during the Cabinet’s meeting, ForUm correspondent reports.
"Once again I want to stress that the harvest of potatoes and vegetables, even in such weather, which temporarily suspends completion of collection, fully meets the internal needs of the country. This means that prices will be stable. The harvest has exceeded demand by few times," Azarov said.
"The projected gross production of vegetables is 10.4 million tons while the consumption fund is up to 7.5 million tons, or is 180 kg per one person at a standard of 105 kg per year. Gross production of potatoes is more than 21 million tons, of which the consumption fund is 6 million tons, or about 140 kg per person per year," he said.
According to the Prime Minister, as of 8 October, there were 1.3 million tons of vegetables, including about one million tons of potatoes in storages.
