The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine has called upon the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation to observe the Ukrainian legislation while stationing in Crimea.
"We understand that Black Sea Fleet is a complicated mechanism and its functioning on the territory of Ukraine may come across certain emergency situations. Nevertheless, we want to draw attention of Russian militaries, serving in BSF divisions on the territory of friendly state Ukraine, to the necessity to observe and respect its legislation," Ministry's spokesman Yevhen Perebeynos said in a statement.
The FM representative underlined that Ukraine repeatedly declared its readiness to hold talks on all sensitive and highly charged issues and stood for the constructiveness, mutual respect and observance of national interests. The official also reminded that both side continuously work on improvement of the current legal base on stationing of Russian BSF.
At the same time Perebeynos informed that the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine was aware of attempts of the Russian Fleet to install new military equipment.
