Local governments cannot restrict freedom of movement of minors at night, deputy chief of the main department for protection of rights and freedoms of children of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine Mykhailo Kundenko told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

"Local authorities have the right to make decisions within their jurisdiction, but we have the Constitution. As far as I know, we had cases of announcing curfew a few years ago, but then prosecutors responded, and the relevant regulations of authorities were canceled because the current legislation does not provide for restricting the movement of citizens," the representative of the supervisory authority said.

Kundenko stressed that the police also can’t restrict the freedom of minors without a good reason. "All acts of administrative violations must be supported by evidence," he explained.
