Ukraine does not have a unified state policy for intellectual property protection, director of a coalition of performers and producers Dmytro Prykordonny told a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.

"The policy for protection of intellectual property rights should have been formed by the Education and Science Ministry, and implemented by the Service for Intellectual Property. It is obvious that the Education and Science Ministry have neither the time nor the experts in this field," he said.

According to Prykordonny, lack of appropriate policy harms international image of Ukraine as well as the country's economy.

He said that at present the main problems of Ukraine in the sphere of intellectual property rights are unlicensed software in government agencies, misuse of intellectual property on the Internet and functioning of collective management organizations in the field of copyright, which collects fees for using the intellectual property rights in cafes, bars and restaurants.
