Russian President Vladimir Putin once again stressed that Ukraine’s decision on rapprochement with the European Union would damage economic relations with Russia, but "we will not have any political problems". This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin at the APEC summit in Bali, Indonesia.

"Ukraine and Russia are fraternal states. So, of course, we will cooperate in the way we do now," the President of the Russian Federation assured.

He noted that in case of signing the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, Russia will make correspondent decisions to protect its market, but strictly within the rules stipulated by the WTO.

"If Ukraine lowers the level of protection for its own customs territory, then we will have to take some protective measures. Of course, these measures should be exclusively within the framework of the World Trade Organization," the head of the Russian state said.

According to him, "one of the provisions of the FTA within the CIS gives us the right to impose protective measures".
