Program "Throw out right!", providing for storage and disposal of batteries according to economic standards of the European Union, has been launched in Ukraine with the support of the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry, ForUm correspondent reports.
According to ecology and natural resources minister Oleg Proskuriakov, the problem of safe disposal of waste batteries and accumulators is relevant for Ukraine.
"As we are waiting for European integration, our environmental standards should meet the European ones, and that means we need correctly deal with chemical power sources, because one thrown battery can contaminate 20 square meters of territory," Proskuriakov said.
According to the minister, depending on the amount of batteries coming to them, their disposal will be carried out at Ukrainian or European enterprises.
"The program will operate on a regular basis, and everyone can join it," Proskuriakov summed up.
