Justice minister of Ukraine Olena Lukash considers it appropriate to amend the Law “On the national referendum".

In particular, she emphasized that, although the issue of changes in the Law “On the national referendum" is not included in the list of EU requirements, it has been raised by MEPs.

The Justice Ministry will be directly involved in the development of amendments to the Law “On the national referendum". "My personal position is that Ukrainians should have the right to change the constitutional order," she told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

Lukash recalled that two referendums have been held in Ukraine so far. "The first gave us independence, the second was an attempt to reduce the number of MPs, their rights and other privileges. The second one was not efficient," she said, adding that the law on referendum was passed to enable the citizens decide the fate of the state.
