The Ukrainian government will do everything possible to submit the bill on amendments to the electoral law for consideration to the Parliament as soon as possible, justice minister of Ukraine Olena Lukash said during a roundtable, ForUm correspondent reports.

"We will do everything possible for the bill with the findings of the Venice Commission on the results of the discussion to be submitted to the Parliament next week," she said.

Lukash emphasized the importance of public discussion of possible changes to the electoral law as there is a need to understand whether it is real and necessary to implement recommendations of international experts in Ukraine.

MPs, present at the roundtable, agreed that Ukraine does not need to lower electoral threshold from 5% to 3%. This was stated by MP Ruslan Knyazevych (Batkivshchyna faction), Rostyslav Pavlenko (UDAR faction) and Dmytro Shpenov (Party of Regions faction).

MPs also added they do not support the proposals to extend the powers of district electoral commission.
