Ukraine strives to find a balance in relations between the European Union and Russia, first vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Arbuzov said during a meeting with European Commissioner for Trade Karel De Gucht, the press service of the first vice Prime Minister reports.
Preparation for the Vilnius Eastern Partnership summit, where the Association Agreement of Ukraine with the EU is planned to be signed, was a main issue of this meeting. The Ukrainian party confirmed the immutability of its political course on European integration.
On a request of the European party, Arbuzov told about trade and economic problems, which exist and may emerge on Ukraine's way towards the Association and in the process of the Agreement implementation.
A special attention was paid to the situation in the Ukrainian-Russian relations. The first vice Prime Minister noted Ukraine's good will and its striving to find a balance in relations between the European Union and the Russian Federation.
The European integration draft laws were separately discussed, which Ukraine has to adopt in the process of preparation for the summit. Arbuzov, as a government member responsible for a dialogue with the Parliament, stressed on readiness to create all necessary legislative preconditions in order that Vilnius was a success of the Ukrainian and European policy.
