Premier instructs public utility workers to ensure heating in houses

The Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine assures that the preparation of residential houses, social facilities and public institutions and organizations for the autumn-winter period has almost completed, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said, opening the Cabinet’s meeting, ForUm correspondent reports.

"In general, 205 thousand residential houses, more than 20 thousand schools and 14 thousand kindergartens have been already prepared for the winter conditions, as well as 7 thousand hospitals, 25 thousand boilers, 2 thousand water and 3 thousand wastewater pumping stations, 243 water and 847 wastewater treatment plants," said Azarov.

According to him, more than 6 thousand units of specialized equipments are ready for winter.

"Unfortunately, the launch of heating at our systems can sometimes lead to breakouts. So I pay special attention of the emergency response and restoration teams to create necessary supplies of materials to eliminate potential accidents. I emphasize the heat must be not on paper but in houses, schools, kindergartens and hospitals," the Prime Minister said.
