Andras Deak, an expert of Hungarian Institute of International Affairs, believes that Ukraine's economy cannot bear the load of high price for Russian gas.

"Gas price in Europe is very high, and such situation depresses everyone. As for Ukraine, I think you cannot survive long with such high level of gas import. Ukraine pays about 8% of its GDP for gas. Hungary consumes approximately the same amount of gas as Ukraine, but we pay only 3%," the expert said.

He also noted that the Russian gas price for countries of Eastern Europe is higher than for Western European states.

"This is a macroeconomic problem and it must be solved. You should not expect a miraculous solution coming from outside. It is a matter of energy-efficiency, energy-saving and adequate consumption," Andras Deak believes.
