The expert of the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs Andras Deak, an expert of Hungarian Institute of International Affairs considers creation of a gas hub in Ukraine to be a smart move. He stated this at a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.

"Given all the delicate moments, I would not call it a hub. This is just storage. However, this idea makes sense. It is a smart move if you have idle capacities, nearly empty, and you can be relied on. Then certain players will show interest," Deak said.

In his view, though, this is not enough for Ukraine to gain energy independence.

"There should be at least something else, at least gas supply diversification, to create a hub. Ukraine has only one supplier - Russia. There is no diversification," he said.
