The state agency on energy-efficiency and energy-saving of Ukraine has announced a contest for selection of the best projects on implementation of modern technologies of hot and cold water supplies to communal and social facilities, Cabinet's information-analytical bulletin says.

This year the Cabinets plans to allocate 299.85 million hryvnias for the realization of such projects. As experts note, the given event is being held within the "State grant program on energy-saving, renewable energy sources and alternative fuels for 2010-2015".

State support may be granted to communal and social facilities carrying out modernization and replacement of boilers with further switch to alternative fuels, implementation of heat pump units, electric heat accumulating systems and hot water supplies, as well as implementation of cogeneration units.

The basic goal of the program is to create favorable conditions to bring Ukraine's GDP energy intensity in line with developed counties and standards of the European Union. In particular, it is planned to reduce country's GDP energy intensity by 3.3% annually, till 2015.

Government's analysts note that the fuel-and-power resources efficiency upgrading will strengthen the competitiveness of the national economy. It is expected that by 2015 the share of renewable energy sources and alternative fuels will have been increased by 10%.

As of today, Germany is the EU leader on implementation of alternative renewable energy with 25% share. By 2020 Germany plans to increase it up to 35%. As for Ukraine, vice PM Yuri Boiko believes that the share of alternative energy in our country can be increased up to 15% by 2020.
