The Energy and Coal Industry Ministry expects to get 30 billion cubic meters of gas via reverse supplies from a number of directions, deputy energy and coal industry minister Serhiy Chekh said in comments to journalists, ForUm correspondent reports.

"There is a need for as much as possible to reduce the volume of gas purchases from the Russian "Gazprom". The need (in reverse - Ed.) is about $ 30 billion," he said.

According to him, these reverse supplies include not only the transfer of technology, but also the best prices. "If they are offered, and other states adhere to the terms of the Energy Charter Treaty, we will increase this amount," Chekh said. 

He stressed that to date, according to technical estimates, up to 15 billion cubic meters can be obtained just from Hungary and Slovakia.

Speaking of new sources of reverse gas supplies, he said: "It can be gas or Russian origin through other GTS – the North Stream (gas pipeline between Russia and Germany, passing through the Baltic Sea. - Ed.), the Belarusian gas transportation system, or it can be liquefied natural gas from North Africa, the gas from the North Sea".
