He noted that Ukraine will not be able to refuse the gas supply from Russia as early as next year. "Only by the end of 2015, if we implement all our plans for our own gas production, using land and the shelf of the Black and Azov Seas, as well as non-traditional sources, we will be able to reach the support level of up to 70%. 30% will still remain," Chuprun said.
He also stressed that at least 3-5 years are needed for the implementation of plans to achieve energy independence. "We do not focus on it. We are focused on ensuring fair and objective approach to the economy of our state. We do everything in order to peacefully resolve the gas prices issue through negotiations with the Russians. We are not to be dictated the terms, which do not correspond to the interests of our state," the official said.
At the same time Chuprun added that Russian gas prices are an incentive for Ukraine.
