The signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union will probably become the most ambitious investment program for the Ukrainian state, Ambassador of Germany to Ukraine Christopher Weil said ForUm correspondent in exclusive comments during the 10th annual meeting of the Yalta European Strategy (YES).
"The signing of the Association Agreement may become the most ambitious investment program for the Ukrainian state. Foreign investments will help to develop the Ukrainian economy and make it more competitive. The signing of the agreement will also help to eliminate customs barriers," he said.
However, he noted that he sees no contradictions between Ukraine’s signing of the Association Agreement and its relations with the Russian Federation.
"I would like to see that good Ukrainian-Russian relations are preserved, because Russia is an important trading partner for Ukraine. At the same time, both parties should be interested in good relations. Moscow has to make advances and realize that it may be also interested in the transformation of the Ukrainian economy," he said.
