Ukraine will never oppose the integration processes between the West and the East and will try to combine them, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych said during a speech at the 10th annual meeting of Yalta, the press service of the head of state reports.

"We have been trying to modernize the country. The core of our reforms is to move closer towards the European standards. We have made our partner relations with EU member-states stable and we hope for signing an Association Agreement with the EU. But the country’s modernization will not end after the November summit," Yanukovych said.

He also noted that Ukraine is located between two big "monsters" - the European Union and Russia. "This is what we feel every day, and we cannot ignore this provision. So I am very grateful to our partners from the EU and Russia for the understanding of this issue," Yanukovych summed up.
