European Union is ready to assist Ukraine in cases like the delay of goods at the customs office of the Russian Federation, European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule said in an interview with "Kommersant-Ukraine".

"If our partners become objects of undue influence of any party, including, of course, the pressure of Russia, and if it is related to their desire to sign or initial the Association Agreement with the EU, the EU must find a way to offset their losses. Moldova is a good example, as the EU has already initiated the procedure to increase the quota on imports of Moldovan wine," he said.

When asked whether there were similar measures for Ukraine, Fule said: "As far as I understand, the situation on the Ukrainian-Russian border has improved, and you no longer have the problems that were in August. We do not take actions if they are not related to current situations. However, the August events have led us to a number of decisions. We have begun to pay more attention to the so-called temporary use of AA (Association Agreement - Ed.) We want the AA to enter into force before the completion of the ratification procedure," the EU Commissioner said.

He also noted that the EU is open to a dialogue with the Russian Federation, "but we have not heard from them any detailed explanations of what was happening, besides the fact that Russia "pursued its own interests."
