Integration with the European Union will radically change the lives of Ukraine, Norway's Ambassador to Ukraine Jon Elvedal Fredriksen said at the meeting of the Strategic Discussion Club of the World Policy Institute, ForUm correspondent reports.

"In turn, your country is important for Europe and is its integral part. Ukrainian-European agreement on free trade area is an important piece of the integration puzzle, and we urge that the FTA should start working as soon as possible. Energy security, which can be enhanced with the help of Brussels, is also of great importance for Ukraine. The same goes for economic safety," the ambassador said.

He added that in September, foreign ministers of the eight Nordic-Baltic region states (NB8) signed a declaration of support for the EU initiative "Eastern Partnership" and the EU-Ukraine AA. "The agreement must be signed at the summit of "Eastern Partnership" in Vilnius in November, provided that Ukraine demonstrates significant progress in 3 key areas identified in the conclusions of the European Council in December 2012," Fredriksen said.

According to him, any economic threats or political pressure against the Eastern European partners in relation to their European aspirations and the interaction with the European Union, are unacceptable. "Countries have the right to choose what is best for their future," the expert concluded.
