To effectively combat raiding, it is necessary to define this concept in the legislation.
Interior minister of Ukraine Vitaly Zakharchenko posted this in his blog after attending a meeting of the interdepartmental commission for the protection of investors' rights against illegal acquisitions and takeovers chaired by first vice Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov, the Interior Ministry press service informs.
According to the minister, the meeting of the Commission, whose activities were resumed in May of this year, addressed a number of important issues: the development of the national anti-raiding strategy and the draft law on amendments to the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Zaharchenko stressed that an important question remains the adoption of a special anti-raiding law, because now even the very notion of "raiding" is not legally defined.
"This legislation will help to more effectively combat the illegal merger and seizure of business entities. In addition, it will make required the preparation and implementation of anti-raiding government programs aimed at ensuring the legal and economic protection of entrepreneurs," the minister noted.
