German Ambassador to Ukraine Christoph Weil believes that the European Parliament resolution calling on Russia to stop pressuring countries of "Eastern Partnership" is a sign that the European Union supports Ukraine on the way to sign the Association Agreement, the diplomat told reporters.
At the same time, he noted that Germany will support the signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union if Ukraine fulfills the necessary conditions.
"Of course, Germany will support, but it is necessary to fulfill the conditions that have been set. You see, the EU would not have worked for five years in partnership with Ukraine on the text of the agreement, if it had not had a common goal with Ukraine," he said.
However, he reminded about a joint statement of the EU foreign ministers in December of last year, which clearly identified the expectations of the European Union. He also appreciated the adoption of the European laws by the Verkhovna Rada.
