In Ukraine, for the six months of 2013, wage arrears decreased by 143 million UAH, or by 13%, first vice Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov said during a conference call, ForUm correspondent reports.

"Our main priority should be to pay off wage arrears and contributions to the Pension Fund (PF).

We therefore have no right to waste time and spare resources. Today, we have positive results. Over 6 months we have seen a strong tendency to reduce the debt on wages. Since March, they have decreased by 143 million UAH, or 13%," he said.

Arbuzov also said that this year the Social Policy Ministry has strengthened control over observance of legislation in this area.

He also said that as of September 9 debts on wages made up 259 million UAH, of them 336 million UAH - on state-owned enterprises, 27 million UAH- on public utilities, 525 million UAH – on enterprises of other forms of ownership.
