Health-care reform is aimed at the improvement of social protection of medical workers, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych emphasized.
"It is our goal. We will gradually increase salaries of medical workers and provide conditions for their work. It will be a principle of the state policy. Step by step, we will achieve the European standards," the President said during his communication with media representatives in Lutsk.
According to him, the average salary of medical workers is constantly growing.
The President also emphasized that Ukraine continued reformation of ambulance system. "It is also a priority by which we will significantly reduce mortality," Yanukovych said. He reminded that the number of modernized ambulances had increased significantly.
According to the head of state, health-care reform is a continuous process that requires the increase of funding.
"Under the experience of the countries that have already gone through reformation of health-care sphere, reformation is possible when the funding of the health-care sphere increases and the conditions are created… The development of this system requires many years. We know that even the most developed countries continue modernization of medical sphere. We have made only the first step in this direction," Yanukovych said.
