Each day of the fettering gas agreement alienates Ukraine from Russia, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said in the Netherlands, commenting on the signed operating agreement with Royal Dutch Shell company, Ukraine cabinet’s press office informs.
"Every day, as long as the unequal gas deal with Russia is in force, alienates Ukraine from Russia," Azarov said.
The Prime Minister stressed that in terms of the strategic partnership, temporary unilateral advantage prevents from building up a long term relationship.
According to Azarov, the gas contract is a constant irritant in Ukrainian-Russian relations. Therefore, Ukraine has no other choice but to look for partners to diversify energy supplies and implement energy efficiency programs.
