More than five million migrants live in Ukraine, a new report of the UN Department for Economic and Social Affairs says, the press service of the UN reports.
According to the report, the number of migrants in Ukraine amounts to 11.4% of the total population. It is also noted that since 2000 the number of migrants in Ukraine has decreased by 0.5% and by 2.2% from 1990 to 2000.
According to the UN statistics, the total number of migrants in the world is 232 million people that is 3.2% of the world population.
The largest number of international migrants is concentrated in 10 countries - the United States (45.8 million), Russia (11 million), Germany (9.8 million), Saudi Arabia (9.1 million), UAE (7.8 million), the United Kingdom (7.8 million), France (7.4 million), Canada (7.3 million), Australia (6.5 million) and Spain (6.5 million).
The report was prepared on the eve of the global Summit on Migration and Development, which will be held on October 3-4 in the framework of the 68th session of the UN General Assembly.
