Former President (1991-1994), chairman of the Constitutional Assembly Leonid Kravchuk predicts that the draft law on amendments to the Constitution can be put to a referendum, he wrote in his article on Forbes.ua.

The ex-President noted that after the draft concept of changes to the Constitution is finally approved by the members of the Assembly, it will be given for consideration to the President Viktor Yanukovych and will be posted on the website of the Assembly for discussion.

At the same time, he said that if the Parliament does not receive 300 votes of deputies to amend the Constitution, the President can put the document to a nationwide referendum, based on which it will be put into operation.

Kravchuk stressed that these amendments to the Constitution are necessary for further reforms of local government, law enforcement and judicial systems.
