On September 5, NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy and German firm RWE signed a new contract for the purchase and storage of natural gas, Ukrainian energy and coal industry minister Eduard Stavytsky told a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday.
He declined to disclose the details of the agreement, saying this was a corporate secret, but noted that the formula for the price of natural gas under this contract is more advantageous than the price parameters of the agreement between Naftogaz and Russia’s Gazprom, even given a $100 discount on the gas price received by Ukraine for the presence of the Russian fleet in Crimea.
