FM: EU-Ukraine Association not to affect economic relations with Russia

Signing of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement will not affect economic relations with the Russian Federation, spokesman of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

 

"We believe that creating free trade area with the EU will not lead to a significant change in the volume of trade between Ukraine and the Russian Federation," the official stressed.

 

According to him, for the first half of 2013, Ukraine ranked fifth in the turnover with Russia. Ukraine's share is only 4.4% of the total trade turnover of the Russian Federation.

 

Thus, according to Perebyinis, increasing economic integration of Ukraine with the EU is quite compatible with the actions of the Russian Federation in the European direction.
