The Syrian Embassy in Ukraine has no official information about involvement of Ukrainians in combat operations in the country, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Syrian Arab Republic in Ukraine Mohamed Said Akil told a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.
"We have no official information on participation of Ukrainians (in hostilities - Ed.) in Syria. This information has been published in many Ukrainian media. There were even named names, and the copies of passports of some of them. This is not my information, this is information of the Ukrainian press," the diplomat said.
He noted that his speech at the press conference on Wednesday should not be considered as an official statement.
"It was not a statement. I said then: "We have heard ...," he said.
When asked by reporters: "What do you mean - we have heard?" the ambassador replied: "from the media".
