EU counts on consolidation of Ukraine’s political forces after Association signing

European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule stated that Ukraine should do everything to continue the constructive cooperation of political forces, which can be seen today during preparation for the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU, after its signing, he said during a meeting with chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak in Vilnius (Lithuania) with the participation of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, vice President of the European Commission Catherine Ashton, the press service of the Verkhovna Rada reports.

According to the report, Ashton appreciated the work done by the Parliament during the last plenary week. She expressed gratitude to the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada for his personal contribution to the organization of the work of Parliament.

Rybak stressed that the cooperation with the EU is a consolidating factor for the Ukrainian society. "The European choice is a common basis of the political program of leading parliamentary forces, as well as a link that unites the Ukrainian society," he said.

He assured that "the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is ready to take into account all recommendations to bring the national legislation in line with the EU standards and the agreement ratification in a short time after its signing."

Rybak recalled that this week the deputies considered seven bills on European integration and resolved the issue on elections in troubled constituencies.
