Election of mayor and Kyiv City Council members may be held in fall of 2015, leader of the Party of Regions faction Oleksandr Yefremov told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.
In particular, Yefremov said that according to the Constitution of Ukraine, the Kyiv City Council elections shall be held in October 2015, and they shall be regular.
As for the mayor election, ex-mayor Leonid Chernovetsky wrote a letter of resignation one day before the end of his term. "It is possible, of course, to hold early elections, but the newly elected mayor will be in office for only year and a half. In 2015, we will have to hold election once again, and it will require additional funds," he concluded.
