Trading contradictions between Ukraine and Russia can be solved using the tools of the WTO and the FTA within the CIS, economic development and trade minister of Ukraine Ihor Prasolov said, answering MPs’ questions during the hour of questions to the government, ForUm correspondent reports.

The minister noted that Russia's actions in relation to Ukrainian goods are unacceptable for civilized countries. "However, it is not question to the contract, not to the WTO provisions, but to the side, which went to such actions," he said.

Prasolov not ruled out that the customs dispute with Russia can be resolved through the mechanisms of the WTO and the CIS free trade area.

He recalled that the Article 19 of the CIS free trade area agreement prescribes ways to solve trade disputes. According to him, this can be either the CIS Economic Court, or examining by the WTO experts.

Prasolov also said that under the agreement on CIS free trade area, Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Moldova and Kazakhstan confirmed their willingness to conduct trade relations with Ukraine.

"It's no secret that the CIS is the biggest trade partner of Ukraine. Ukraine just need to have the appropriate contractual framework that regulates the movement of goods between the countries," he said.

The minister recalled that the CIS free trade area agreement contains provision for the administration of customs procedures.
