UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon stated that he intends to make the situation around Syria the main topic of his talks at the G20 summit in St. Petersburg. The Secretary General arrived in St. Petersburg to attend the summit, which will be held on September 5-6, the organizing committee of the forum reported.

On Thursday and Friday he will hold a series of meetings with the leaders of the G20.

Speaking with students of the St. Petersburg state university on Wednesday, Ban Ki-moon said he was concerned about the relentless flow of arms to Syria.

He reminded that the number of refugees due to the conflict in Syria has exceeded two million. He also said that "the people of Syria needs peace."

Ban Ki-moon believes that "the G20 representatives should be involved in discussion of the situation around Syria".
