It is necessary develop the sports infrastructure in Ukraine, in particular re-construct the Olympic base and extend the territory of the Olimpiysky National Sports Complex, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said, opening the Cabinet’s Meeting, ForUm correspondent reports.

"The developed sports and culture infrastructure should be in every region. Thus, the Olympic base built in the mid-seventies, unfortunately, no longer meets modern requirements. Therefore, the government has decided to start major reconstruction of the Olympic base," Azarov said.

According to him, the question of the allocation of additional land plots adjacent to the Olympic Centre, where new sports facilities are planned to be built, still remains unsolved.

In this regard, Prime Minister instructed chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov, together with the youth and sports minister Ravil Safiullin to speed up solution of the issues.
