Kyiv has expressed a desire to join the agreement of the Customs Union member states on the elimination of technical barriers in trade with the countries - participants of the CIS, which are not members of the Customs Union, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said, opening the Cabinet’s Meeting, ForUm correspondent reports.

"This is a very important agreement, since the Customs Union itself envisaged the possibility of joining the technical regulations of the states that are not members of the Customs Union, and even provided certain procedures in this.

Therefore, I instruct the Economic Development Ministry and the Justice Ministry together with the government representatives at the College of the Eurasian Economic Union to urgently prepare the issue of accession to the said Agreement for the consideration of the government," he said.

"It is extremely important that the Economic Development and Trade Ministry, the Foreign Ministry and the Justice Ministry promptly develop and submit for the Government for approval the necessary draft regulations on the harmonization of technical regulations, customs regulations, etc.," PM noted.

As an example, he recalled that three technical regulations of the Customs Union on the rail transportation shall come into force in 2014. "If we are not ready in time, it could significantly impede the confirmation of compliance of the rolling stock produced in Ukraine with the requirements of the Customs Union. So now the Economic Development and Trade Ministry and the Infrastructure Ministry should work on this issue," Azarov said.
