The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine sent for follow-up revision a draft law on amendments to the customs tariff of Ukraine, which is included in the so-called "Europackage" of laws. As ForUm correspondent reports, the bill was supported by only 217 MPs.

In this regard, speaker Volodymyr Rybak offered to send the document back to the committee to prepare it for the repeated first reading. 258 people's deputies supported this proposal.

According to rapporteur on this issue, first deputy economic development and trade minister of Ukraine Anatoly Maksyuta, this bill is an integral part of Ukraine's implementation of commitments within the WTO. The bill proposes a new version of the customs tariff, based on an updated version of the Ukrainian classification of goods of foreign economic activity.

Maksyuta noted that the bill stipulates reduction of import duties on certain goods in accordance with the commitments to the WTO in 2013. In addition, the law provides for doubling full import duties on commodities subcategories of the customs tariff of Ukraine to ensure the reliability of the declaration of the country of origin.
