Foreign minister of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara considers introduction of trade barriers between states to be intolerance of changes. He said this on air of ICTV Ukrainian TV channel, commenting on the situation with intense checks of Ukrainian products on the Russian customs.

"Today Ukraine is negotiating on a free trade area with nearly a dozen countries ... Free trade, based on the rules of the World Trade Organization, is the future of international trade. Therefore, the creation of artificial barriers, trade restrictions have nothing to do with modern foreign economic policy," Kozhara said.

He stressed that trade within the WTO contributes to the development of civilized relations between the countries.

He also cited the example of the European Union, which is actively negotiating with the United States and Japan to establish a free trade area, and Russia, which also conducts negotiations with a number of countries.

In particular, Kozhara noted that no one stands against it, and in case of Ukraine, the creation of such areas, in his opinion, harms nobody, creating favorable conditions for Ukraine.

"I am absolutely convinced that when we solve the issue with the signing of the Association Agreement, the political passions over Ukraine will fade," Kozhara concluded.

Kozhara expressed confidence that in such circumstances the authorities are ready to defend the interests of Ukraine.
