Foreign minister of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara expressed to his Russian colleague Sergei Lavrov a concern about the long absence of appropriate action on the Russian party in response to actions of Russian border guards in the Sea of Azov, which led to the deaths of four citizens of Ukraine.
"The Russian party carried out search and rescue operations, as well as assisted in the repatriation of the bodies. However, given the tragic consequences of this incident, we are looking forward to an objective and thorough investigation into all the circumstances of the incident.
Our concern is caused by lack of adequate response of the Russian party to the actions of the Border Service of the Russian Federation, in particular, certain questions arise about the adequacy of the measures taken by them," letter of Ukraine’s foreign minister, published on the Ministry’s website, reads.
In connection with this Kozhara proposed to hold consultations on consular and legal issues led by the heads of relevant departments of our ministries in the near future.
