The European Union plans in October to assess the level of implementation by Ukraine of all the criteria established by the Council of the European Union on 10 December 2012. This was announced by European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule on August 29 after a meeting in Brussels (Belgium) with three leaders of the Ukrainian parliamentary opposition Vitali Klitschko ("UDAR"), Oleg Tyahnybok (VO "Svoboda") and Arseniy Yatseniuk (VO "Batkivshchyna ").

"Ukraine needs to show decisive actions and tangible progress on the all criteria, for EU to sign Association Agreement in Vilnius. These criteria include the solution to the problem of selective justice, particularly Tymoshenko's case and further reform of the judicial system, improvement of electoral legislation, the reform of the Prosecutor General's Office, as well as improving the business climate," Fule said.

According to him, during the meeting there was also discussed the role of the Ukrainian opposition in the process. "The process of Ukraine's political association and economic integration with the EU should be comprehensive, it needs effort and a broad consensus on reforms, certain agenda, as well as the positive contribution from both the government and the opposition and civil society. That's why I'm looking forward to participation in the political roundtable on the issue on the occasion of my next visit to Kyiv," the Commissioner said.
